Duct Heater Accessories

Duct Heater Accessories: At the core of every resistive heating solution is its control panel. A poorly designed control panel can be the difference between poor performance, a short product life-span, and unsafe working conditions. Like all Smiths Group plc companies, TUTCO takes this responsibility very seriously. All of TUTCO products are built to the highest quality standards and electrical codes.

Magnetic Contactor Duct Heater Accessories
2 Pole Magnetic Contactor

Magnetic contactors are standard in all duct heaters. They are used for primary or back-up control. UL approved for 250,000 cycle operation.

Effective 8-4-17, TUTCO will no longer offer mercury contactors due to environmental effects and increased restrictions implemented around the world. We have a full line of magnetic contactors available for standard and custom units.

Magnetic Contactor Duct Heater Accessories
3 Pole Magnetic Contactor

Magnetic contactors are standard in all duct heaters. They are used for primary or back-up control. UL approved for 250,000 cycle operation.

Effective 8-4-17, TUTCO will no longer offer mercury contactors due to environmental effects and increased restrictions implemented around the world. We have a full line of magnetic contactors available for standard and custom units.

Air Flow Switch Duct Heater Accessories
Air Flow Switch

The Air Flow Switch prevents the heater from being energized when the fan is not on. Non-adjustable airflow switch requires a minimum of .07” WC pressure. Adjustable airflow switch is available with a rating of .05” ± .02” WC to 12” WC.

Control Transformers Duct Heater Accessories

Control Transformers
TUTCO Control Transformers are utilized when the control voltage differs from the incoming line voltage feeds. Our Control Transformers provide primary overcurrent protection. Class 1 units must have primary side protection via fusing. Class 2 units have internal protection and do not require additional fusing unless specified.

Electronic Step Controller
Electronic Step Controller

An Electronic Step Controller provides smooth sequencing of a duct heater up to 12 steps. When interruption of power occurs all the stages will recycle to OFF. When power is restored, the switches will re-energize in a stepped sequence.

Commonly used with a 2–10 VDC from a stand-alone T-stat, 2-10 VDC from a DDC building automation system and 4-20 mA from a building automation system; check with the factory for availability. Not available on DHB & DB series or bottom mount heaters.

Fuse Blocks
Fuse Blocks

TUTCO offers a 3-Position Fuse Block required for NEC code and designed to UL standards. For heaters drawing more than 48 AMPS, contact the factory.   Accessory fusing is available on heaters drawing less than 48 AMPS when requested.

Main Power Connector
Main Power Connector

TUTCO Main Power Connectors are high voltage terminal blocks and sized for copper conductors only. The connector is sized to accept parallel line feeds up to 500 MCM each per pole.

Pilot Light Indicator
Pilot Light Indicator

TUTCO Pilot Lights are installed in the side panel for indicating the following heater conditions: heater energized, step energized and air flow switch open. Pilot light control voltages must be 24 or 120 volts.

Power Fusing
Power Fusing

TUTCO provides Power Fusing to UL standards and NEC code required for heaters drawing more than 48 AMPS. Accessory fusing is available on heaters drawing less than 48 AMPS when requested.

Terminal Block
Terminal Block

TUTCO Terminal Blocks are sized for high voltage copper conductors up to a 500 MCM line per pole. Heaters requiring feeders greater than 500 MCM will be supplied with main power terminal blocks which will accept two (2) parallel lines up to 500 MCM each per pole. Low voltage control circuit terminal boards are included for easy field connections.

Time Delay Relay
Time Delay Relay

TUTCO Time Delay Relays provide 30 to 60 seconds when energizing or de-energizing the circuit controlled. The relay can be used with control voltages of 24 to 277.

UL labels are important for the following reasons:

  1. Industrial building inspectors REQUIRE them. Equipment installations can be rejected for not adhering to NEC codes
  2. Knowing the equipment and the accessories are built to quality standards and will not interfere with normal operations minimizes troubleshooting assuring peace of mind.
  3. It’s SAFER. Remember, check the label.
